Beit Wakil
This distinguished 16th Century palace shows off the delightful Aleppine architecture, and is located just outside the city walls. It has charming interiors with colourless marble flooring, elegant arabesque woodwork and hand drawn wooden ceilings with cornices.
The rooms are very simple but comfortable and in keeping with the traditional style of the building. The famous central Quaa (room) with its suspended dome and coloured arabesque glass windows, the stone built cellars and the lime stone caves below with a labyrinth of tunnels, one of which, links the palace to the Citadel of Aleppo. These are just some of the many elements which distinguish the Aleppine masonry art and Arabian architectural genius. Enjoy Aleppine mezes and specialities in the summer and winter restaurant, there is also a tavern and bar in the stone built cellar. In the evenings classical Arab music and dancing provides a traditionally and culturally enriching form of entertainment.
