Patagonia - Calafate

Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia

Early explorers described Patagonia as a barren land devoid of fresh water and trees, with only brackish ponds and dwarf plants. However, hidden in the heart of this inhospitable region is Bariloche, where you will find one of the world's most beautiful and spectacular landscapes. Snow capped mountains, lakes, rivers and wooden chalets combine to provide a wide range of outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and water sports.

Further south, the vast steppe gives way to impressive mountain ranges and El Calafate which exists as the gateway to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. This area offers some of the best trekking and climbing opportunities, particularly to Perito Moreno Glacier and the Fitz Roy peaks. Finally, across the straits of Magellan lies the large island of Tierra del Fuego, divided between Argentina and Chile and the main base for cruises to Antarctica or through the Beagle Channel.

From the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean, from desert to dense beech forest and from ice shelves and glaciers to towering granite pinnacles, Patagonia offers any visitor the most unforgettable adventure at the 'End of the World'.
